Flirting With The Edge
By Sally
I stumbled upon a post recently that stopped me in my tracks. It said:
“You can tell when someone has been flirting with the edge of insanity their entire life.”
It wasn’t meant to insult—it was an observation. And strangely, I felt seen.
There’s a certain kind of soul—gentle, deep-feeling, intuitive—that often lives close to the edge. I know, because I’m one of them. For years, I carried trauma silently, wrapped it in strength, and smiled through storms. But inside, I knew I was holding things too big for words. That’s why I eventually turned to psychedelic therapy—not as an escape, but as a sacred tool for healing what couldn’t be healed by talk alone.
Let me be honest: psychedelic therapy isn’t for everyone. It’s not a shortcut, and it’s certainly not always gentle. For people like me—those with a tender psyche and a long history of hurt—it can feel like walking into a wildfire barefoot. But with the right support, guidance, and intention, it can also become the most profound homecoming.
The medicine doesn’t fix you. It reveals you. It shakes the dust off buried grief, silenced pain, and forgotten joy. It invites you to feel, to remember, to forgive, and to finally come back to the person you were before the world taught you to hide.
So if you’re someone who’s ever felt “too sensitive” or “on the edge,” know this: you’re not broken. You’re beautifully complex. Healing for people like us just takes a gentler kind of courage, and you are not alone.
